About this formation

This formation plays to the strength of Firmino and Coutinho who are both not natural wingers. Their strengths are playing through the middle and would make an exciting attacking trio with Sturridge. Those 3 will play well together because they prefer to use speed and skill when on the offence. The centre of midfield will have 3 hardworking midfielders able to contribute both to attack and defence. Winning the midfield battle is key in any game and it is important that Henderson, Milner and Can support each other and control the midfield which can serve as an outlet to start attacks towards the opponents goal. The fullbacks Clyne and Moreno are very important as they will be the only players providing width to the team and they need to be solid in defence on the flanks as well as providing crosses or passes from flanks when on the attack. They will need to be hardworking and also provide support to the centrebacks. The centreback pairing of Gomez and Sakho would complement each other as Sakho is more physical while Gomez is elegant. Both are composed on the ball, good tacklers on the ground and are aerial threats in the opposition box for corners as well as controlling aerial battles in their own box. Both need to have a good understanding and not work together to clear any danger from opposition attacks. The goalkeeper Mignolet is the best keeper in the squad and can pull off admirable saves, however he needs to distribute and command his box better as well as working on his own decision making. This would be my ideal Liverpool FC team moving forward. Hopefully Brendan Rodgers sees it!
