The back four remain steady knowing they have cover in the center of the park with an experienced interceptor in the form of Michael Carrick and two dynamic midfielders in Ander Herrera and Morgan Schneiderlin who cover box-to-box. So, the fullbacks are allowed to overlap, be it in the opponent's middle-third or in midfield to link up with Carrick to avoid him having no passing options incase the lines are high. The front line will be given freedom to link up amongst themselves while the on rushing midfielders(Herrera and Schneiderlin) flood the box in good attacking positions, as the wide men get into good crossing positions at least three men must be in the box(left cross will have striker, right winger, right center midfielder, and vice versa). Both central midfielders ahead of Carrick the deep lying playmaker must be able to spread the play with accurate passes, it could be passes in behind for players to latch onto or diagonal balls to opposite flanks to set up a good crossing opportunity. Attack as a team and defend as a team. The team shape is such that lateral passes are rare as direct flow is much(a lot of forward balls), Carrick being the core and other players around him. Both wingers could swap at anytime to either free themselves of a marker that has their game on lock or to use one's ability to maximum and run at certain defenders to create chances easily.
