About this formation
Manchester United MUST get Bale if de Gea leaves for Madrid; Schneiderlinn is best option for CDM, proven to suit Premier League style. Angel di Maria is best at the LCM position, given the freedom to roam from the center to the left wing (Depay can shift inside at times and leave space for di maria to penetrate with his dribbling). Rooney can act as False 9 against teams with high defensive lines, drawing defenses forward as target man and then playing Depay/Bale through as they cut into the center. This front trio should make for exciting counter attack as well as possession football; Di Maria is the lynchpin of it all, with freedom to roam as Herrera takes a more defensive role than a traditional CM.
