About this formation
The reason I chose Bolton is that for most of my life following football, they have been in the Premier League. Certainly at their peak they were a tough team to beat and could pose a real threat to the top teams, with their resilient defending and long ball attacks. The idea of the formation is that they have 5 at the back to soak up the attacks, with Hunt and Gardner able to defend from wide attacks (as well as attack down the wings where possible), while the middle three congest the box. With Nolan covering the middle of the pitch this would give Stelios and Jay-jay freedom to attack as they support two very successful strikers in the PL. As you can see the team is made up of tried and tested Bolton players, most who had a long running success with the club. The captain is Nolan - just because he can. The only manager for this team goes without saying......Gary Megson……*ahem*…………….. BIG SAM!
