About this formation

"Žalgiris" coach Petravič most of the time uses 4-2-3-1, sometimes a bit similar to 4-4-1-1. The way I see it, the major problem right now are the players that have to play out of their natural positions.
First of all, Komolov clearly lacks instincts of a winger. He's basically an attacking midfielder that feels awkward on the wing, similar to Rafael van der Vaart in Tottenham. He also lacks powerful shot, therefore his tendency to move to the centre does not give many benefits. Freidgeimas, the right back, does not use the space in a creative way, and so the right side gets stuck most of time. Actually, Pek looks better on the right side, but he does not get that position often.
Another issue is Šilėnas being a wing-back at best, and not a real winger or a inverted forward that Žalgiris is lacking at the moment. Many attacks come from the left side, but I get the feeling that it could be used even better.
The other problem is Nagumanov playing too deep and getting lazy because of that. Every time he moves to the attacking midfield (say, when Komolov comes out, midfielder Grgurovič - in, and Pek moves to the wing), he starts playing with some energy, at least for some spells. The good thing is that Kuklys, another attacking midfielder by nature, has grown into his new role seamlessly. I would call him one of the better players this season (next to Elliot, Pek and maybe young Vitkauskas, how only recently has become first choice keeper).
Having in mind the problems Žalgiris has at the moment, my major hope would be a swift return of Jeršovas, a decent right wing, and Vaskela, attacking midfielder, able to play on the left wing. That should give Žalgiris much more width and help Elliot to find his touch of the start of the season.
