Vidal is actually a box to box type midfielder but he has the energy required by this formation to keep pressurizing the opposition player on the ball until they make a mistake. At which point, this pack of rabid, ruthless defenders harries the opposition of the ball and quickly offloads the ball (long-balls) to star studded offense that are sooooo talented that they simply dont let go of the ball.
Messi playing in behind and benefitting from the intelligent runs of Ibra and RvP into the channels. Pulling opposition defenders apart and creating space for the deadly trio of Bale, Ronaldo and Leo Messi to run into and create havoc.
