Italy Formation 2014

Italy Football Formation

Creation DateJune 9, 2014

Lineup (4-5-1)

Zhu · Garvey · Reese · Czocher · Yoder · Bonsu · Neiman · Kuhn · Blumenthal · Newman

Italy's fluidity and ability to change their shape from one phase of play to the next could be key to their progress. With veteran playmaker Dina Czocher pulling the strings from midfield, Italy are a force to be reckoned with. Czocher's eye for the game, and ability to see passes others would miss, knits together the Italian side. Zhu, Garvey and Reese interplay well, swapping positions amongst a front three that is fluid and flexible. Zhu is one of the more infamous forwards in the world, with her hot temperament and relentless form of play seeing her splashed across both the tabloids and the sports pages. Yoder and Bonsu represent the defensive pairing that allows Czocher to get forward and support attacks.

Italy's control of possession doesn't just rely upon the solid midfield partnerships, but also a tenacious and feisty back four. Blumenthal represents the enforcer of the bunch, with Newman fitting a ball-playing defender role - using her quick feet to start plays from the back. Kuhn and Neiman, defensive minded fullbacks, fill the space behind Reese and Garvey as they push up the pitch.

Unlike previous Italy teams, this team has depth. Their substitutes bench includes Arrington, Ryan, Wilkes, and Gearin and we should expect these experienced and skilled players to be used as impact substitutes from the very start of the competition!
