This formation best suits Inter because it has a disciplined shape that allows the two young midfielders (Kovacic and Kondogbia) to play deep in the midfield and also go forward.

The fullbacks in this formation are going to stay back if Kondogbia is going forward because in that case Kovacic will not have a lot of defensive responsibility. When anyone else has it Montoya will be able to get forward because he is skilled in doing so and can interchange with Nagatomo.

Hernanes is in a role that he excelled in last season and will be in position to score fantastic long range goals.
