Torres and Drogba play best as strikers. Last season, in Carlo's 4-3-3, one of them had to be pushed wide, and this didn't suit them. So, why not roll back the years and try a traditional 4-4-2 with both of them as striker? They could have a Gudjohnsen-Hasselbaink partnership.

Ivanovic is picked over Bosingwa because in 4-4-2, the team isn't as dependent on full-backs for width as 4-3-3, so someone who is more defensively sound, and useful in set-pieces was picked.

The central partnership will be Lampard-Essien with Lampard tending to forage forward more. Essien is placed a bit to the right because Luiz tends to be a bit of a maverick at times and that isn't always good.

According to me, Zhirkov is faster, more skilful and better winger than Malouda, who's getting older. Chelsea need to sign Moutinho for the right flank, and the team is complete.
