ive gone for a familiar united back four, as i feel its pretty stable without any need for wholesale changes. However, i have shaped the midfield keeping in mind the champions league and also clashes with the big teams in the premier league. Ive chosen a 4-2-3-1 formation, simply for the fact, that it adds solidity in defense, without sacrificing United's attacking attributes. Ive chosen Lassana Diarra and Phil jones to make up the 2 defensive mid-fielders. I feel diarra is one of the most under rated players with his value not being truly appreciated. having him and jones in a defensive midfield would provide security to the united back four. In the wings, i have chosen united's existing players in nani and park, as they have fared excellently in big game scenario's. Only change i have made is bringing in wes sneijder, to add a bit of quality in centre mid which united have been lacking, along with a proven goal scoring threat. in attack, i have stuck with rooney, simply because of his tenacity, and him being a big match player
