Lineup (4-4-1-1)

The perfect counter to a 4-3-3 formation. On the wings, the attackers will be outmatched in a 2-on-1 battle. For example, a right winger will be defended by both Kolarov and Clichy. If the opposition goes down the middle, they will be quickly closed in by Gundogan, Silva, and De Bruyne with some instances Kolarov or Fernandinho too. This is also one of the best counter-attacking formations. Once the opposition gives the ball away, the formation turns into more of a 4-5-1 with both Kolarov and Fernandinho pushing forward. A narrow 4-1-2-1-2 is the only formation that could possibly counter this, as it would overload the central midfield. That formation is very rare, and this formation could be the key to success.
