Manchester United Football Formation
July 10, 2017
Lineup (4-3-3)
De Gea · Lindelof · Bailly · Blind · Valencia · Herrera · Pogba · Mkhitaryan · Martial · Mata · LukakuCurrent first XI for a 4-3-3. You can see the biggest issue is the lack of width because both wingers are inverted. Martial absolutely has to track back in this formation because Mata is not strong defensively and Lukaku could use work there, too.
To improve this formation, though, I would buy a traditional LW and a CAM. That would let Mkhi move to the RW, giving better pace than Mata. You could move him there anyway, but that means playing Lingard as the CAM in the first XI, and I think he is better suited to provide quality depth.
