Starting Lineup

Macará operates with an aggressive 2-4-4 formation. This lineup is built to play with intense verticality and high pressure. The intention is to squeeze the space and flood the attacking third with numbers to overwhelm the opposition.

Burrai occupies the goal to defend the line. The defensive unit consists of a two man back line made up of M.Corozo and Manchot. Because there are only two defenders, they must play a very high line to prevent the opposition from finding space. M.Corozo and Manchot need to be dominant in the air and quick to intercept passes. They must communicate constantly to cover for one another when one defender steps up to engage an attacker.

In the middle of the pitch, the midfield functions as a flat block of four. Arce and Rizotto form the central pairing to manage the center of the field. Rizotto works to shield the defense and win the second ball, while Arce looks to carry the ball forward and break the lines. Quiñónez and G.Corozo operate on the flanks to provide width. They are tasked to track back when out of possession and support the central players to recycle possession. This midfield group serves as the link that connects the defense to the front line.

The front line is heavy with four players across the front. Janner and Feraud play as wide attackers, with Janner on the left and Feraud on the right. They can choose to cut inside to create central threats or pull wide to stretch the defense. In the middle, Champang and Estrada operate as a striking partnership. They use link up play between the lines to pull defenders out of position. This front four is designed to press from the front and hunt for the ball high up the pitch.

A major tactical advantage of this Macará lineup is the numerical superiority in the final third. By placing four players in the attacking zone, they can overwhelm the opposition back line. Another strength is the ability to press in coordinated waves from the front. The presence of Quiñónez and G.Corozo allows the team to create wide overloads, forcing the opponent to shift constantly and leave gaps.

This 2-4-4 formation is a bold system centered on overwhelming attacking pressure. It is most effective when facing an opponent that sits deep and needs to be broken down through sheer numbers.
