The midfield relies on a double pivot to manage the center of the pitch. W. Acevedo works to shield the defence and win the second ball in the middle. F. Mancuello acts as the carrier to drive forward with the ball and connect the back line to the front four. This two man midfield must work hard to cover the large gaps left behind when the attackers press. They focus on recycling possession and finding the forwards quickly.

In the attacking phase, the team uses four forwards to overwhelm the opposition. I. Piatti plays as a wide winger on the left to cut inside and create chances. Patito R. operates on the right wing to stretch the play. L. Gracián and D. Gandín lead the line as two forwards in a partnership. These two forwards focus on runs in behind and link up play between the lines to create openings. The front four press the opposition back line aggressively to force a long ball.
