By committing so many players forward, the team seeks to control the tempo and quickly transition into offensive positions.

Shao Puliang starts between the posts to organize the defensive unit. Because the team uses only two central defenders, Stoppila Sunzu and Yun Yang must stay extremely disciplined to cover the wide areas. They often play a high line to squeeze the space and act as ball playing defenders to start attacks. This narrow defensive block requires the defenders to be ready to defend large amounts of ground if the opposition breaks the first wave of the press.

The midfield is the engine of the CZ Mighty Lions, operating with a deep layer and several players pushing higher. Sum Ming Him acts as a single pivot to shield the back line and recycle possession. Ahead of him, Zhu Yue and Peng Wang operate in the half spaces to drive forward with the ball and connect the defense to the attack. Yingjie Zhao and Georgiy Zhao function as two tens who operate in the pockets behind the striker to create chances. This five man midfield allows the team to control the ball and pass through the lines with ease.

In the final third, the team employs three attackers to stretch the defense. Heber acts as the central striker to hold up the ball and lead the press from the front. On the flanks, Viv Solomon Otabor and Oscar Taty Maritu act as wide wingers who can cut inside to hunt for goals. The movements of the front three are designed to create runs in behind and allow the attacking midfielders to arrive late into the box. This attacking structure forces the opposition back line to stay deep and prevents them from stepping up.

One major advantage of this formation is the numerical superiority in midfield, which makes it very difficult for opponents to keep the ball. The presence of five players in the middle allows the team to win the second ball and quickly switch play to the wings.
