The midfield consists of a double pivot to provide a screen for the back four. E. Pavez and V. Pizarro act as the engine room, tasked with winning the second ball and recycling possession. Pizarro works to connect the defensive and attacking lines, often driving forward to support the press. Pavez sits deeper to shield the defence and protect the two central defenders. This pairing must be disciplined to ensure they do not leave the back line exposed when the team pushes for goals.

Colo Colo uses a heavy attacking front four to pin the last defender. C. Zavala and C. Palacios play as wide wingers who hug the touchline to create width, while M. Coronel and L. Di Yorio lead the line as two forwards in a partnership. Coronel and Di Yorio look to find the feet of each other or make runs in behind the defence.
