Starting Lineup

QD Hainiu looks to dominate the central zones through a high volume of players in the middle of the pitch. This 2-5-3 formation focuses on overwhelming the opposition in the center to win the ball back quickly. The lineup is built to control the tempo by using a congested midfield to drive play forward.

Martin Boakye stays between the posts to oversee the defensive line. The back line consists of a narrow pair of central defenders, Evans Kangwa and Chen Chuxin, who must remain very disciplined. Because there are only two players in the back, Evans Kangwa and Chen Chuxin often have to cover large amounts of space and step up to intercept passes. They act as a tight unit to prevent the opposition from getting behind them, often relying on quick recovery runs to manage the space left by the advanced midfield.

The midfield is the heart of the QD Hainiu engine, operating as a five man unit to squeeze the space. Diego Lopes sits in the single pivot role to shield the two defenders and break up play. To his sides, Elvis Saric and Long Wei occupy the central channels to win the second ball and carry the ball forward. Further up the pitch, Wang Chieng Ming and Li Suda push into the half spaces to create numbers in the final third. This group works to connect the defense to the attack by recycling possession and finding ways to play through the lines.

In the final third, the team uses three attackers to stretch the opposition. Mu Pengfei acts as the lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and find the feet of his teammates. On the wings, Milos Milovic and Liu Junshuai provide width, with Milos Milovic looking to cut inside to create shooting opportunities. The attacking unit works to press the opposition back line, forcing long balls that the midfield can then intercept. This setup creates many options for quick combinations and allows the players to isolate defenders in one on one situations.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages through numerical superiority in the midfield. By packing the center, QD Hainiu can easily win the second ball and control the tempo of the game. The presence of five players in the middle allows the team to press in coordinated waves, making it very difficult for opponents to find a passing lane through the center.

The 2-5-3 formation is a high risk, high reward system centered on controlling the middle of the park. It is best suited for matches where the team wants to dominate possession and suffocate the opponent in their own half.
