Because there are only two defenders, they must stay compact to prevent being split by through balls.

The midfield functions as a four man block that connects the defense to the front line. Zhao Honglue sits in a single pivot role to shield the two center backs and win the second ball. Next to him, Chen Yuhao and Eduardo Henrique act as driving midfielders who carry the ball forward through the middle. Zhang Xiuwei operates as an attacking ten behind the strikers, looking to play through the lines and find the forwards. This group must work hard to press in a mid block and stop the opponent from building from the back.

QD West Coast utilizes a powerful front four to pin the last defender. Jean David Beauguel and Brayan Riascos work as a partnership in the center, acting as two physical strikers to win headers and hold up the ball. Nelson Da Luiz plays as a left winger who stays wide to stretch the defense, while Alan operates on the right. Alan looks to cut inside and create chances or get to the byline to deliver a cross. The attacking unit is designed to hit in behind on the transition and attack with pace.
