Danilo Arboleda uses his aerial strength to defend crosses and win headers during set pieces. Because there are only two defenders, they must be quick to track back and cover the wide areas usually occupied by full backs when the team loses possession. They must stay compact to avoid being split by long balls.

The midfield functions as a heavy engine room with five players covering the pitch. Denny Wang and Deng Hanwen form a double pivot to protect the two center backs and shield the defense. Darlan and Zhang Xiaobin operate as central midfielders who carry the ball forward and connect the defensive unit to the attack. Romario Balde and Liu Ruofan act as wide wingers to provide width. Romario Balde uses his pace to attack the space behind the full backs and cut inside. The attacking unit focuses on quick combinations and runs in behind to stretch the defense. They look to isolate defenders in one on one situations to create clear chances.
