Cheongju looks to dominate the pitch through a high press and aggressive verticality using a 2-5-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and quickly move it toward the goal. By squeezing the space in the opponent half, the team seeks to catch teams out of position before they can settle.

Park Dae Han starts between the posts to oversee the defensive unit. Cheongju employs a very high line with only two central defenders, Venicio and Lee Han Saem, who must be ready to cover large spaces. These two central defenders need to be able to step up to intercept passes and win the second ball. Because there is no traditional back four, the two center backs must act as sweeping defenders when the opposition tries to hit in behind on the transition.

The midfield is heavily populated to ensure control of the center of the pitch. A double pivot consisting of Kim Myung Soon and Ku Hyun Jun works to shield the two defenders and recycle possession. Won Jin Hong operates as the central engine, looking to carry the ball forward and link the defensive and attacking lines. In the half spaces, Hidetoshi Miyuki and Kim Seon Min act as attacking midfielders who can push higher to support the front three. This five man midfield provides a platform to win the ball back quickly in a mid block.

The attack relies on a three man front line to pin the last defender. Nathan Oduwa leads the way as the central striker, tasked to hold up the ball and find the feet of his teammates. On the flanks, Paulinho and Jung Min Woo provide width and can cut inside to create goal scoring chances. The formation encourages the wingers to pull wide to stretch the defence, creating room for the midfielders to arrive late into the box. The team attacks in combinations, using the wide players to create one on one situations.

A major strength of this Cheongju lineup is the numerical superiority in the midfield, which allows them to dominate possession and control the tempo. The high press in coordinated waves makes it difficult for opponents to play out from the back. Additionally, the ability to quickly transition from a midfield press to a three man attack creates constant pressure on the opposition back line.
