Starting Lineup

Arsenal relies on a heavy defensive foundation to win games through rapid transitions, using a 5-3-2 formation. This lineup is built to soak up pressure before launching quick attacks against the opposition. By sitting deep and maintaining a compact defensive unit, the team looks to exploit the space left behind retreating defenders.

The defensive unit begins with 1-ARQUERO in goal to command the area. In front of him, the back line operates as a back three consisting of Matias, Leiva, and captain Pedro (C). Pedro (C) acts as the ball playing defender on the left, while Matias and Leiva focus on winning the second ball and clearing the lines. The wide defenders, Felipe as the left wing back and Ian as the right wing back, provide the width. They are tasked to push up and provide service when the team has the ball, but they must also track back to form a five man line when defending.

In the middle of the pitch, the team uses a three man midfield to control the central areas. Carlos and Sergio JR form the central pairing, acting as the engines that connect the defence to the attack. Carlos works to shield the defence and win the second ball, while Sergio JR looks to drive forward with the ball to break the line. Vicho plays as the attacking ten behind the strikers, operating in the pockets of space to create chances. Vicho is responsible to press aggressively to win the ball high and link the midfield to the front two.

The attack features a partnership of two forwards, José and Lobos. José operates as the left striker, often looking to find the feet of the striker or run in behind the defence. Lobos plays as the right striker to provide a constant threat in the box. When Arsenal move forward, Felipe and Ian spread wide to stretch the defence, allowing José and Lobos to combine in tight spaces. The movement of the front two is designed to pull defenders out of position, creating space for Vicho to arrive late into the box.

Arsenal gains a clear advantage through the numerical superiority in the back three, which makes it difficult for opponents to find gaps in the central area. The ability to shift between a back five and a three man midfield provides great stability during defensive phases. Furthermore, the speed of transition when Ian and Felipe push forward allows the team to catch the opponent off guard.
