Wolves Football Formation
Starting Lineup
JOSÉ (SÁ) · SANTI (BUENO) · MAX (KILMAN) · TOTI (GOMES) · NÉLSON (SEMEDO) · JEAN-RICNER (BELLEGARDE) · MARIO (LEMINA) · JOÃO (GOMES) · RAYAN (AÏT-NOURI) · MATHEUS (CUNHA) · HEE-CHAN (HWANG)Wolves aim to control the tempo through a heavy concentration of players in the middle of the pitch using a 3-6-1 formation. This lineup is built to dominate the central areas and use a high press to win the ball back quickly. By crowding the middle, the team can control the rhythm of the game and keep the opposition pushed back.
The defensive unit starts with JOSÉ in goal to sweep behind the line. A back three consisting of TOTI, MAX, and SANTI provides a solid base to defend against central runs. TOTI and SANTI act as wide centre-backs to cover the flanks when the wingers push high, while MAX stays central to win the header and hold the line. This back three works to maintain a compact defensive block when the team drops into a mid-block.
In the middle, the team utilizes a massive six man midfield to dominate the pitch. JOÃO and JEAN-RICNER occupy the central areas to shield the defence and win the second ball. MARIO operates as a carrier to drive forward with the ball, while MATHEUS plays as an attacking ten behind the striker to find the feet of the striker. NÉLSON on the right and RAYAN on the left provide the necessary width, acting as wide midfielders who can support the attack or track back to help the defenders.
The attacking phase relies on the movement of HEE-CHAN as a lone striker. HEE-CHAN is a pressing centre-forward who works to harass the opposition back line and create chaos. He looks to run in behind the defenders or link up play with the players arriving late into the box. The wide players, NÉLSON and RAYAN, look to spread wide to stretch the defence, allowing MATHEUS to operate in the half spaces and play through the lines.
Wolves gain a clear tactical advantage through numerical superiority in the midfield. This setup allows them to squeeze the space in the centre and prevent the opponent from playing through the middle. The ability to transition quickly from a dense midfield to a wide attack also makes them dangerous on the break.
This 3-6-1 formation is designed to dominate possession and choke the opposition in central areas. It is best suited for games against teams that try to play through the middle and require constant pressure.
