Brazil National Football Team Formation
Starting Lineup
ALISSON · ENDRYCK · VINICIUS · RAPHINHA · GUIMARAES · PAQUETA · DOUGLAS LUIZ · MARQUINHOS · GABRIEL · COUTO · WENDELLBrazil looks to dominate through a high press and rapid transitions using a 4-3-3. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and move the play quickly toward the opponents goal. The Selecao aims to use the technical ability of their midfielders to control the tempo while the forwards exploit space behind the defensive line.
Alisson acts as the last line of defense, often acting as a sweeper behind a high line to intercept long balls. The back line operates as a flat back four where Couto plays as an attacking full back on the right to provide width. On the left, Wendell provides support to the midfield while Marquinhos and Gabriel form the central pairing. Marquinhos is dominant in the air and Gabriel works to cover space when the team pushes high. This defensive unit works together to squeeze the space and push the opposition back into their own half.
In the middle of the pitch, Brazil employs a three-man midfield with a single pivot. Douglas Luiz sits in front of the defense to shield the back four and recycle possession. To his left and right, Guimaraes and Paqueta operate as inverted eights who connect the defensive and attacking lines. Guimaraes drives forward with the ball to break the line, while Paqueta looks to create from deep and find the feet of the strikers. This midfield group is tasked to win the second ball and press aggressively to win it back high up the pitch.
The attacking front line uses three attackers to stretch the defence. Vinicius plays as an inverted winger on the left, cutting inside to take on defenders with his dribbling style. On the opposite flank, Raphinha plays as a wide winger who can also cut inside or cross from wide areas. Endryck leads the line as a pressing centre-forward who works to pin the last defender. The attack relies on combinations between the wingers and the striker to create runs in behind or allow the full backs to overlap the winger.
One major advantage for Brazil is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, making it difficult for opponents to play out from the back. The midfield trio provides a way to control the game through passing while also being able to transition at pace. This formation also allows for wide overloads when Couto and Wendell push up to support the wingers.
This 4-3-3 formation creates a heavy presence in both the attacking and defensive thirds. It is a lineup best suited for games where Brazil needs to dictate play against teams that sit deep.
