Starting Lineup

Livakovic (İrfan Can) · Osayi (Mert) · Çağlar (Becao) · Djiku (Jayden) · Ferdi (Levent) · Fred (Orkun Kökçü) · Hojbjerg (İsmail) · Terrier (Cengiz) · Tadic (Mert Hakan) · Szymanski (İrfan Can) · En Nesyri (Dzeko - Cenk Tosun)

Fenerbahçe aims to play a low block that relies on compactness and quick transitions, utilizing a 5-4-1 formation. This lineup focuses on being defensively solid while looking to hit opponents on the break. The team is built to sit deep, squeeze the space between the lines, and use the width of the pitch to stretch the opposition when they win the ball.

Livakovic guards the goal as the last line of defense. The back five consists of Çağlar, Djiku, and Hojbjerg acting as central defenders, while Osayi and Ferdi operate as attacking wing backs. Çağlar and Djiku provide aerial strength and dominance in the air, while Hojbjerg covers the center and can step into midfield when needed. Osayi and Ferdi are tasked to push high up the pitch to provide width, but they must track back to maintain a narrow defensive block when the team loses possession.

In the middle of the pitch, Fenerbahçe uses a four man midfield to protect the defensive line. Fred acts as the single pivot to shield the defense and win the second ball. Szymanski and Tadic occupy the central roles, with Tadic often looking to recycle possession and find ways to play through the lines. Szymanski works to press aggressively to win the ball high when the team moves out of their deep block. Terrier operates as an attacking midfielder in the hole, connecting the midfield to the striker and making late runs into the box to support the attack.

The attacking setup features En Nesyri as a lone pressing centre-forward. He is tasked to find the feet of the striker and hold up the ball to allow the midfielders to move up the pitch. The team looks to attack in transition, with Osayi and Ferdi providing overlapping runs to create wide overloads. En Nesyri works to pin the last defender, creating space for Terrier to arrive late into the box or for Tadic to whip it in from wide positions.

This formation offers great compactness when defending, making it very difficult for opponents to find gaps in the central areas. Fenerbahçe can also exploit the speed of transition by using the wing backs to quickly spread wide and stretch the defence. The ability to shift between a back five and a more attacking shape allows them to manage different phases of the game effectively.

The 5-4-1 formation provides Fenerbahçe with a very stable defensive base and a reliable platform for counter attacks. It is a tactical setup best suited for facing teams that dominate possession and leave space behind their high defensive line.
