AEK plays a direct and high pressing style of football using a 3-5-2 formation. This lineup is built to control the central areas of the pitch and win the ball high up the pitch to catch opponents out of position. The team relies on intense energy to drive the team forward through the middle while maintaining enough width to stretch the opposition.

In the defensive unit, stankovic guards the goal and organizes the back line. The formation uses a back three consisting of vida in the center, with moukoudi on the left and rota on the right. Vida acts as the central anchor, while moukoudi and rota provide cover and can step up to engage attackers. This back three works to defend zonally and ensures the team stays compact when they drop into a mid-block.

The midfield is a five man engine room designed to dominate the center. Mantalos plays as the left midfielder, while elliason operates on the right to provide width. In the central trio, symanski, jonson, and pineda work to control the tempo and connect the defense to the attack. Symanski and jonson act as central midfielders who drive forward with the ball, while pineda helps to press aggressively to win the ball high. This group works to recycle possession and ensure the team can move from a defensive stance into an attacking phase quickly.

The attacking line features a two man partnership of garcia and ponse. Garcia and ponse work as two forwards who press the opposition back line to force errors. They often combine in tight spaces to create chances, with one striker looking to hold up the ball while the other makes runs in behind. The width provided by pineda and elliason allows the team to spread wide, which creates space for the strikers to operate centrally or allows for crosses to be delivered into the box.

AEK gains a significant advantage through numerical superiority in midfield, making it difficult for opponents to play through the center. The ability to press in coordinated waves allows the team to win the ball back quickly in advanced areas. Furthermore, the formation provides great flexibility to transition from a compact defensive block into a sharp attacking unit that can hit opponents on the break.

This 3-5-2 formation is a high intensity system built for aggressive ball recovery and central dominance. It is best suited for games against teams that try to play out from the back and struggle with a heavy press.
