Rougerie and Montoya operate as wide attackers to provide constant width across the pitch. Montoya and Rougerie stay wide on their respective flanks to isolate a one-on-one wide situation. They look to make runs in behind and receive the ball in the half-spaces to create chances through combination play.

The formation offers significant advantages in terms of wide overloads. Because Coppola and D'Amato can push high, they create numerical superiority alongside the wingers.
