Starting Lineup

Legia focuses on a high press and rapid attacking transitions using a 2-4-4 formation. This lineup is built to overwhelm opponents in the final third by committing many players forward to pin the opposition back. The goal is to win the ball high up the pitch and strike before the defensive unit can get into position.

Nsame guards the goal as the lone goalkeeper. Behind the midfield, Gual and Luquinhas act as a central defensive pair in a narrow back two. They must be ready to step up to support the high line or cover long balls played behind them. Because there are only two central defenders, they rely on the midfielders to squeeze the space and prevent direct passes from reaching the attackers.

The midfield consists of a central pairing of Elitim and Goncalves who work to control the middle of the pitch. Elitim and Goncalves act as a double pivot to shield the two defenders and recycle possession when needed. On the flanks, Vinagre and Wszołek operate as wide midfielders to provide width and support the attack. Vinagre and Wszołek are tasked to press aggressively to win the ball high up the pitch and feed the front four.

Legia utilizes four attackers to stretch the defence. Ziółkowski and Tobiasz work as a central partnership, with Ziółkowski acting as a presence to hold up the ball and Tobiasz looking to run in behind. On the wings, Burch and Barcia act as wide wingers who look to cut inside or provide service to the central strikers. This front line is designed to create chaos through constant movement and quick combinations to split the defence with a through ball.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages through its ability to create wide overloads and numerical superiority in the attacking third. By pushing Vinagre and Wszołek high, Legia can pin the opposition defenders and create space for Burch and Barcia to operate. The aggressive pressing from the front four also allows the team to win the ball back quickly in dangerous areas.
