The midfield functions as a central engine room with a four man block. ICHA and VARFOLOMEEV operate in the center to control the middle third. ICHA works to connect the defense to the attack, while VARFOLOMEEV looks to win the second ball and protect the center. On the flanks, KOŽELUH and GHALI act as wide midfielders who provide the width. They are tasked to push up the pitch to support the attack and track back to help the back three when the team loses possession.
