Krovinović works alongside Sahiti to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Sahiti is able to carry the ball forward to drive the play into the final third. Perišić operates on the left side of the midfield four to press aggressively and win possession high up the pitch. This unit must stay narrow to protect the center and prevent the opposition from playing through the lines.

The attack features two forwards working in close partnership. Livaja plays as a deep lying striker who drops into midfield to link up play and hold up the ball. Pukštas plays as the more advanced striker, looking to make runs in behind the defense. The team uses the width provided by Moufi and Diallo to stretch the defense, creating space for the two forwards to combine in tight spaces. When Hajduk wins the ball, they look to hit in behind on the transition by finding the runs of Pukštas or the movement of Livaja.

A primary tactical advantage for Hajduk is the ability to press in a mid block to force long balls from the opponent. The formation allows for quick transitions when the midfield wins the ball.
