Metalac focuses on being defensively solid and compact, utilizing a 5-3-2 formation. This lineup is built to sit deep and wait for the right moment to hit in behind on the transition. By maintaining a dense defensive block, the team seeks to frustrate the opposition and use the width of the pitch to exploit space when they win the ball.

Milinković acts as the last line of defense in goal. The defensive unit operates with a back five consisting of Lazar Vasović in the center, flanked by Martinovic on the left and Ilija Janković on the right. Vranić plays as a left wing back to provide width, while Kovač operates as the right wing back. Lazar Vasović works to organize the line and hold the position, while Martinovic and Ilija Janković provide cover to prevent runners from getting between the lines. This defensive unit functions to protect the central area and force the opposition wide.

In the middle of the pitch, Metalac uses a three-man midfield to control the center. Milinković and Bogojević act as the central runners who work to win the second ball and press the opposition. Marinković plays as an attacking ten, sitting in the hole to connect the midfield to the strikers. This trio works to compress the midfield and deny passing lanes. Bogojević and Milinković are tasked to shield the defense, while Marinković looks to find the feet of the striker or play through the lines when the team moves into the final third.

The attacking front line features two forwards in a partnership. Gačić and Dimitris/Lazić operate as the two strikers, often working in combinations to drag defenders out of position. Gačić plays as a striker to hold up the ball, while Dimitris/Lazić looks to make runs in behind the defense. The team attacks in transition, using the width provided by Kovač and Vranić to spread the defense. These wing backs look to overlap the winger and whip it in to the two central attackers.

Metalac gains a significant advantage through their compactness when defending in a low block. This formation also allows for wide overloads when Kovač and Vranić push up, creating extra numbers in the attacking third. The presence of Marinković between the lines provides a creative outlet to break the lines quickly once the ball is recovered.

This 5-3-2 formation is a resilient way for Metalac to remain hard to beat. It is best suited for games against teams that dominate possession where the goal is to defend deep and counter at pace.
