Cameroon prefers to play with direct intent and verticality through a 4-4-2. This formation is built to win the second ball and move the play quickly from defense to attack. The Indomitable Lions look to use the width of the pitch to stretch the opposition and create space for their forwards to exploit.

In goal, SIMON acts as the last line of defense to organize the unit. The back line sits in a flat back four with ENZO at right back and COLLINS at left back. Both full backs are tasked to support the attack and overlap the wide midfielders when the ball moves to the flanks. CHRISTOPHER and NICOLAS form the central pair, acting as ball playing defenders who can progress the play. They must hold the line and remain compact to ensure the team does not get caught by runs in behind.

The midfield operates in two banks of four to maintain a compact block. GAËL and PIERRE function as a central pairing, with one player looking to shield the defense while the other tries to drive forward with the ball. These two must connect the defensive unit to the front line by finding passing lanes through the middle. On the flanks, SAMUEL and MARTIN provide the width, looking to press in a mid-block and force the opposition wide. They work to win the ball back high up the pitch and quickly switch play to the opposite side.

The attacking unit utilizes two forwards in a partnership to pin the opposition defenders. CHRISTIAN and BRYAN work in close combinations to pull the center backs out of position. CHRISTIAN often plays as a pressing centre-forward to trigger the press from the front, while BRYAN looks to find space to receive on the half-turn and strike. The team relies on these two to hold up the ball and lay it off to the late arriving midfielders. They often look to hit in behind on the transition to catch the opponent out of position.

Cameroon gains a tactical advantage through their ability to press in pairs across the midfield and the attacking line. This creates high pressure that forces long balls which the defenders can intercept. The formation also allows for wide overloads when ENZO or COLLINS push forward to join SAMUEL or MARTIN. This movement creates numerical superiority on the flanks and forces the opposing full backs to make difficult decisions.
