The lineup is built to dominate the middle of the park and create overloads in the final third. David Raya acts as the primary goalkeeper, playing a vital role in playing short from the back to start attacks. Ahead of him, Gabriel and Saliba form a very narrow back two that stays high to compress the pitch. Gabriel provides immense aerial strength and physical presence, while Saliba acts as a ball playing defender who can cover the space behind the high line. This defensive unit must be ready to step up to set the offside trap or drop deep to deal with runners in behind.

The midfield five provides the engine for Arsenal. Rice operates as the central presence to shield the defence and win the second ball. Beside him, Calafiori and White act as two holding midfielders who can drop to help the centre-backs or move into the half-spaces. Merino plays as a left attacking midfielder to drive forward with the ball, while Odegaard acts as a playmaker on the right to create from deep and find the feet of the striker. This midfield group works to recycle possession and ensures the team always has passing lanes available.
