Starting Lineup

Querétaro aims to play a high press game built on verticality and aggressive numbers in the middle of the pitch. This lineup uses a 2-5-3 formation to overwhelm the opposition in central zones. Escamilla and Lertora are tasked to press aggressively to win the ball high up the pitch and support the front line.

In the attacking third, the team uses three forwards to stretch the opposition. Medina and Barrera play as wide wingers who stay high to pin the opposition full backs. Ake Loba plays as a lone striker to lead the press from the front and hold up the ball for others. This front three looks to create runs in behind the defense and work in combinations to break the lines. The goal is to use the width provided by Medina and Barrera to create space for Ake Loba to work centrally.

This formation offers significant numerical superiority in midfield which makes it hard for opponents to play through the middle. Querétaro can also use the attacking midfielders like Escamilla and Lertora to create wide overloads when they push forward. The ability to press in coordinated waves allows the team to win the ball in dangerous areas.
