Dender EH Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Dietsch (Verrips) · Ruyssen · Cools · Pupe · Concalves (M'Barki) · Van Oudenhove (Fofana / Acquah) · Rôdes (Viltard) · Hrncar · Hens · Akman (Soladio) · Nsimba (Yahaya / Berte)Dender EH aims to play with a heavy verticality and directness through a 3-5-2. This formation is built to use the width of the pitch while maintaining a solid central core to control transitions. The team seeks to use its central numbers to overload the middle before spreading play to the flanks.
Dietsch operates between the posts to command his area. The defensive unit relies on a back three consisting of Pupe, Cools, and Ruyssen. Pupe acts as the right centre back to cover the wide area, while Ruyssen plays as the left centre back. Cools sits in the middle to act as the primary defender, focusing on winning headers and clearing the lines. This back three stays compact to prevent the opposition from playing through the middle.
The midfield works in a five man unit to control the center of the pitch. Rôdes and Van Oudenhove form a central pairing to protect the defense and win the second ball. Hens plays as the attacking ten behind the strikers to connect the lines and find the feet of the attackers. On the edges, Concalves and Hrncar act as wide midfielders who must track back to help the defense and then push forward to provide width. This group works to press in a mid-block and squeeze the space when the ball is lost.
In the final third, Dender EH uses two forwards in a partnership. Akman and Nsimba operate as the two strikers, looking to make runs in behind the defensive line. They work to combine in tight spaces and use their movement to pull defenders out of position. The team builds play by using the wide players to stretch the defense, allowing Akman or Nsimba to find space in the channels. When attacking, the wide midfielders look to cross on the run to find the strikers.
This formation offers several tactical advantages for Dender EH. The presence of five midfielders allows for numerical superiority in the center, making it hard for opponents to pass through. The wide midfielders, Concalves and Hrncar, provide the ability to create wide overloads when they push high. Additionally, the back three provides compactness when defending against teams that rely on central play.
This 3-5-2 setup focuses on central strength and quick transitions to the forwards. It is best suited for games against teams that play with wide wingers where the wide midfielders can double up on opponents.
