Union SG plays a high press game using a 3-5-2 formation. The team aims to squeeze the space in the opponent's half and win the ball back high up the pitch. This lineup is built to play a vertical style of football that focuses on quick transitions to catch the opposition out of position.

Moris stays between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back line forms a back three with Burgess sitting in the middle. Mac Allister and Machida operate as the wide centre-backs. Burgess is there to win the header and command the area. Mac Allister and Machida can step up into midfield to help win the ball or cover the space behind if the team plays a high line. This unit works together to defend zonally and stay compact.

The midfield features a five man lineup to control the center. Puertas and Vanhoutte work as a double pivot to shield the defence and recycle possession. Castro-Montes and Teklab move into the half spaces to drive forward and connect the lines. Rasmussen acts as a carrier in the central area to help progress through the thirds. This group is ready to trigger a press and win the second ball in the middle of the park to keep the pressure on.

In the final third, Khalaili and Eckert work as two forwards in a partnership. Khalaili acts as a pressing centre-forward to harass the opposition back line. Eckert works to find the feet of the striker and play one-two combinations to break the line. The team looks to attack in combinations, often using the midfielders who arrive late into the box. This movement creates chances to hit in behind on the transition and find spaces between the lines.

A major tactical advantage for Union SG is the numerical superiority in midfield. Having five players allows them to squeeze the space and control the tempo of the game. The ability to press high in coordinated waves makes it very difficult for opponents to play out from the back. They also benefit from the speed of transition when they win the ball high up the pitch to catch the opposition.

This 3-5-2 formation is designed for high intensity and central control. It is best suited for games against opponents that struggle to play out from the back under heavy pressure.
