FABIAN works nearby to carry the ball forward and connect the defensive unit to the attack. OLMO operates in the center to find the feet of the striker and play through the lines. N. WILLIAMS and YAMAL occupy the half spaces, where they can either press aggressively or move wide to stretch the defence.

MORATA leads the line as a lone striker to hold up the ball and pin the last defender. He works to link up play between the lines, often dropping deep to pull defenders out of position. N. WILLIAMS and YAMAL act as the wide outlets, frequently cutting inside to create space for the full backs to overlap. The team builds in triangles to progress through the thirds, using quick passes to break the line and find MORATA in dangerous areas.

A major strength of this Spain lineup is the ability to create numerical superiority in the center of the pitch. This makes it difficult for opponents to intercept the ball or find passing lanes. The team also benefits from the ability to press in a mid-block and win it back high up the pitch to launch quick attacks. Wide overloads are common as the midfielders push up, allowing CUCURELLA and CARVAJAL to occupy the flanks.
