Koopmeiners works to press aggressively to win the ball and often makes late runs into the box. Maatsen and Frimpong operate as wide midfielders who push high to provide width. Maatsen and Frimpong overlap the wingers to create numbers in the final third and help spread wide.

The attacking front line features Depay as a lone striker who tries to hold up the ball and link up with teammates. Malen and Simons play as inverted wingers who cut inside to create central presence. Malen and Simons look to isolate a one on one wide or pull wide to stretch the defence. Depay works to pin the last defender while Malen and Simons make runs in behind to catch the opposition out.
