Standard relies on a heavy press and high intensity to dictate play, using a 3-5-2 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and use quick transitions to punish the opposition. By squeezing the space in the middle, the team can force long balls and regain control through organized pressing.

Epolo stands between the posts to command the area and start play from the back. The defensive unit functions with a back three of Ngoy, Bates, and Sutalo. Bates acts as the central defender to hold the line, while Ngoy and Sutalo provide width to the back three and cover the channels. This unit often plays a high line to keep the distance between the defense and midfield tight, allowing the team to squeeze the opponent.

The midfield relies on a heavy presence to control the center of the pitch. Kawabe and O'Neill operate as a double pivot to shield the defense, with Kawabe protecting the left side and O'Neill covering the right. Ahead of them, Sahabo connects the lines and helps to recycle possession, while Bolingoli and Fossey play as two central midfielders who drive forward with the ball. Bolingoli and Fossey can also push up to support the attack, ensuring the team has numbers in the middle to win the second ball.

Standard uses two forwards to stretch the opposition. Kyei and Benjdida work as a partnership in the final third, often using their speed to hit in behind on the transition. Kyei can act as a pressing centre-forward to trigger the press from the front, while Benjdida looks to link up play between the lines. The wingers do not exist in this formation, so the wide midfielders must provide the width to spread the defense. This creates room for Kyei and Benjdida to find space in the channels or make runs into the box.

This formation offers significant numerical superiority in the midfield, making it hard for opponents to play through the center. The use of a double pivot with three central midfielders allows Standard to compress the midfield and dominate possession.
