Starting Lineup

Keegan · Channon · Bell · Ball · Clarke · Shilton · Peters · Hughes · McFarland · Madeley · Todd

Greece plays a high press game using a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup focuses on winning the ball high up the pitch and using verticality to catch teams out of position. The intention is to squeeze the space in the opponent half and push the team forward quickly once possession is regained.

Shilton operates between the posts to command the area. The back line sits as a flat back four with Hughes at left back and Madeley at right back. Hughes and Madeley act as full backs who can push up to provide width during the attacking phase. In the center, Todd and McFarland hold the line. Todd and McFarland function as central defenders who must stay compact and cover the space behind the advancing full backs to prevent being hit in behind.

The midfield consists of a three-man midfield with a central engine room. Bell plays in the middle to connect the defensive and attacking lines. To his sides, Ball and Peters operate in the half spaces. Ball works to drive forward with the ball to transition play, while Peters helps to press aggressively to win the ball high up the pitch. This unit works to compress the midfield and ensure there is no gap between the defense and the attack.

Greece utilizes three attackers across the front to stretch the opposition. Keegan acts as the central striker, tasked to find the feet of the striker and hold up the ball for those arriving late. On the flanks, Clarke and Channon act as wide wingers who hug the touchline to pull the opposition defenders apart. Clarke and Channon look to cut inside to create space for the full backs to overlap. The front three press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages through its ability to press high in coordinated waves. By using Clarke, Channon, and Keegan to trigger the press, Greece can win the ball back high up the pitch. Another strength is the ability to create wide overloads when Hughes and Madeley push forward to support the wingers. This forces the opposition to defend much larger areas of the pitch.

Greece relies on an aggressive identity to dominate the tempo of the match. This 4-3-3 formation is best suited for games against teams that struggle to play out from the back under intense pressure.
