Starting Lineup

River plays with a high press and a focus on controlling the ball through a 3-6-1 formation. This lineup is built to dominate the center of the pitch and use intense pressure to win the ball back high up the pitch. The team looks to suffocate opponents by crowding the middle and quickly moving the ball forward to exploit gaps.

Armani guards the goal and organizes the defensive unit. In front of him, the back three consists of Paulo, Boselli, and Ramiro. Paulo acts as the central figure to command the area, while Boselli and Ramiro cover the wide channels to prevent crosses. The defenders often step up to squeeze the space and set the offside trap, operating in a high line to keep the team compact. They work together to deny the turn to strikers and clear the lines when under pressure.

The midfield is the engine of River, utilizing a heavy presence to dominate the ball. Casco sits in the single pivot role to shield the defense and recycle possession. Alongside him, Felipe, Enzo Díaz, and Simón form a dense block to win the second ball and drive forward with the ball. Lanzini operates in the half-spaces as an attacking ten, while Mastan provides additional movement to connect the midfield to the attack. This group works to press in a mid-block and transition quickly through the thirds.

The attack is centered around a lone striker, Borja, who acts as a focal point. Borja is known for his aerial strength and ability to hold up the ball, providing a target for long balls or quick transitions. Lanzini and Mastan operate as advanced midfielders who can arrive late into the box or cut inside to create threats. This attacking movement creates runs in behind and forces the opposition defense to stay narrow, which allows the wide midfielders to exploit the space.
