Boca focuses on a heavy defensive presence and quick transitions using a 5-3-2. This formation is built to sit deep and wait for the moment to strike. The lineup relies on numbers in the defensive third to absorb pressure before spreading wide to exploit space.

Romero guards the goal while the defensive unit maintains a narrow defensive block. Miramón sits centrally to win the header and hold the line. Medel plays as the right centre back to step up and intercept play, while Rojo covers on the left to manage the space behind the line. Advincula acts as an attacking wing back on the right to push forward and provide width. Blanco operates as the left wing back, tasked to carry the ball forward and whip it in when the team moves into the final third.

The midfield functions as a three-man midfield with a carrier and creative depth. Zenón plays on the left to connect the defensive and attacking lines with his passing range. Saralegui occupies the right side to help recycle possession and protect the back five. Medina plays as an attacking ten behind the strikers to find the feet of the forwards and link the play. This group works to squeeze the space in the middle and ensure they can win the second ball when the opposition tries to bypass the midfield.

Boca utilizes two forwards in a partnership to lead the attack. Cavani operates as the primary striker, using his movement to pin the last defender and find space in the channels. Merentiel plays alongside him, acting as a pressing centre-forward to force a long ball from the opposition. The wing backs, Advincula and Blanco, provide the width necessary to stretch the defence. When the team breaks quickly, the strikers look to hit in behind on the transition or combine in tight spaces to create chances.
