Atlético aims to win the ball back high up the pitch through a high press. The team utilizes a 4-3-3 formation to squeeze the space and disrupt the opponent. The lineup focuses on quick transitions once the players win possession in the final third.

Lola Gallardo plays between the posts to command her area. A flat back four forms the defensive line with Moraza acting as the right back and Medina playing as the left back. Xénia and Lloris act as the two central defenders who must hold the line and cover for one another. Moraza and Medina track back when the team loses the ball to prevent long balls behind them. Both central defenders defend zonally to keep the unit compact and win the second ball.

In the middle of the pitch, a three man midfield controls the game. Gaby García sits in the center to shield the defence and pick up runners. Ana Vitoria and Boe Risa operate in the half spaces to connect the defensive and attacking lines. These two drive forward with the ball to push the team up the pitch, while Gaby García stays back to deny the pivot. This trio works to press in a mid block to force a long ball from the opposition.

The front line consists of three attackers pushing the opposition back line. Sheila acts as the central striker to hold up the ball and find the feet of her teammates. On the flanks, Jensen and Ajibade occupy the wide areas to stretch the defence. The wingers often cut inside to create numbers in the box or to deliver early crosses. These players press from the front to trigger a press from the entire team. Sheila works to pin the last defender to create space for the wingers to run in behind.

Atlético shows a great ability to press high in coordinated waves. This creates numerical superiority in midfield when the wingers and midfielders squeeze the space together. The team also uses the speed of transition to hit in behind on the transition. By using the width provided by Jensen and Ajibade, the team can quickly switch play to isolate wide players in one on one situations.

This 4-3-3 formation provides a compact presence that is perfect for dominating possession and pressing high. It is best suited for games against opponents who struggle to play out from the back under pressure.
