Carr and Luca occupy the left and right central midfield slots to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Jailson plays as an advanced midfielder, operating in the hole to find space between the opposition lines. This group works to press in a mid-block and win the second ball to keep the pressure on the opponent.

Celta attacks with a heavy front three designed to pin the last defender. Willy and Aspas play as wide attackers, with Willy staying wide to stretch the pitch and Aspas looking to cut inside to create chances. Douvi leads the line as a pressing centre forward, looking to find the feet of the striker or run in behind. The forwards work to trigger a press from the front, forcing the opposition to play long balls that the defensive unit can intercept.

The primary advantage of this formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, which puts immense pressure on the opposition goalkeeper. The presence of Jailson in the half spaces creates numerical superiority in midfield against teams playing a standard two man pivot.
