Martin Odegaard, who serves as the captain, operates in the central area to connect the defensive and attacking lines with his passing range. Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli occupy the right and left central midfield roles respectively, where they look to press aggressively to win the ball high up the pitch and immediately look to spread wide.

The attacking presence relies on Kai Havertz acting as a lone striker. He is a pressing centre-forward who works to harass the opposition back line and hold up the ball to allow others to join the play. Arsenal uses the width of the wing backs to stretch the defence, creating space for Saka and Martinelli to cut inside. The goal is to use combinations in tight spaces or exploit runs in behind when the opposition is stretched.
