Germany plays with a very compact defensive identity using a 4-5-1. This lineup is built to sit deep in a mid block to squeeze the space in the center of the pitch. The primary goal is to deny the opponent any room to play through the lines and instead force them to play wide. By keeping the distances between players small, Germany remains difficult to break down.

DOKSURI stays between the posts to command the area and organize the back line. The defense works as a flat back four with Worship MIN at right back and HS KIM at left back. DONGU KANG and BLESSING CHOI form the central pair, where they focus on defending zonally and winning the header when balls are delivered into the box. Worship MIN and HS KIM are required to track back quickly if the opposition breaks, while DONGU KANG and BLESSING CHOI work together to cover for each other and maintain a high line when necessary.

The midfield unit provides the backbone of the team through a dense five man block. PANG and JH WON play as a double pivot to shield the defense and intercept passes before they reach the back four. BY JEONG sits just ahead of them to act as the link between the defensive and attacking players, often dropping to receive the ball and recycle possession. In the attacking roles, JOHN KIM and KW CHOI operate in the half spaces to support the transition. They can press aggressively to win the ball high up the pitch or make late runs into the box to assist the attack.

MC LEE operates as a lone striker tasked with leading the press from the front. His role is to pin the last defender and hold up the ball to allow the midfield to advance. When the team wins the ball, MC LEE looks to make runs in behind the defense to stretch the opposition. The wide midfielders, JOHN KIM and KW CHOI, aim to pull wide and deliver early crosses or cut inside to find the feet of the striker. This creates a system where the attack can move from a defensive stance to a rapid counter at pace.

A major strength of this formation is the numerical superiority in the midfield. With five players occupying the central zone, it is very difficult for opponents to find passing lanes through the middle. Germany also benefits from high levels of compactness when defending in a mid block. This makes it hard for the opposition to play short from the back or find space between the lines.
