Hajduk seeks to control games through a high press and quick transitions, utilizing a 4-5-1 formation. This lineup is built to squeeze the opposition in their own half and use technical players to move the ball quickly through the middle. The goal is to win the ball back high up the pitch and immediately look to exploit spaces behind the defense.

I. Lulic starts between the posts to organize the back line. Hajduk employs a flat back four where F. Uremovic acts as a right back to provide width, while D. Prpic operates as the left back. In the center, N. Sigur and Z. Sarlija form the defensive core, with Sigur providing aerial strength and Sarlija acting as a ball playing defender to start attacks. This unit works to maintain a high line to keep the team compact and prevent the opponent from playing through the middle.

The midfield functions as a central engine to dominate the center of the pitch. I. Rakitic sits in the middle to connect the defense and attack, using his wide passing range to switch play. Beside him, F. Moufi and I. Perisic operate in the half spaces to provide energy and coverage. They work to press in a mid-block and win the second ball. Y. Benrahou and R. Pukstas play in more advanced roles behind the striker, acting as attacking midfielders who look to create chances and carry the ball forward into the final third.

In the attacking phase, M. Livaja operates as a lone striker to lead the line. He works to hold up the ball and find the feet of the oncoming midfielders. The attack relies on Y. Benrahou and R. Pukstas to make runs into the box and pull wide to stretch the defence. This movement creates space for the midfielders to arrive late into the box. The team uses combinations in tight spaces to break the line and create one on one situations for the forwards.

One major advantage for Hajduk is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, using the front five to force a long ball from the opposition. The presence of I. Rakitic allows the team to recycle possession effectively when the initial press is bypassed. Additionally, the wide players like I. Perisic and F. Moufi provide width that can create overloads on the flanks.

This 4-5-1 formation focuses on aggressive pressing and rapid vertical play. It is best suited for matches against teams that try to build play from the back and leave space behind their midfield.
