The midfield operates with a two man pairing to control the center of the pitch. Dami and Moriba occupy the central roles, tasked to press aggressively and win the second ball. Dami works to connect the defensive lines to the attack, while Moriba seeks to win possession and drive the ball forward. This duo must stay compact to protect the back five and cover the space when the wing backs push high. They are responsible for recycling possession and ensuring the team maintains control during build up.

Celta employs three attackers across the front to pin the opposition back line. Willi and Aspas operate as wide attackers, with Aspas often looking to cut inside from the right to create goal scoring opportunities. Douvi leads the line as a lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and link up with the runners. The attacking unit presses from the front to force long balls and intercept clearances. This front three creates a constant threat through runs in behind and combinations in the half spaces.

A major advantage for Celta is the ability to create wide overloads using the wing backs. When Mingue and Hugo push forward, they create numerical superiority against the opposition full backs. The formation also provides great compactness when defending in a mid block. By sitting in a narrow block with the five defenders and two midfielders, the team makes it difficult for opponents to play through the middle.
