This three man defensive block works together to squeeze the space and ensure the team can play out from the back effectively.

The midfield functions as a central engine room with a pairing of Damián and Beltrán. These two act as a double pivot to shield the defence and recycle possession. Beltrán and Damián are responsible for breaking the line with passes and protecting the space in front of the centre backs. The wide midfielders, Mingueza and Hugo, provide the necessary width to stretch the defence, with Mingueza and Hugo often pushed high to support the attack.

Up front, Celta utilizes three attackers to pin the last defender. Tasos acts as the central target man to hold up the ball and provide a focal point for long balls. On the flanks, Williot and Aspas operate as inverted wingers who cut inside to create goal scoring chances. Aspas uses his passing range to find runners, while Williot looks to drive at the defence. This front three presses from the front to force a long ball from the opposition.

One major tactical advantage for Celta is the ability to create wide overloads through the work of Mingueza and Hugo alongside the wide centre backs.
