NK Lokomotiva Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Bartolec · Bubanja · Kalaica · Milićević · Marić · Šotićek · Kastrati · Kačavenda · Stojković · Tuci · ČavlinaNK Lokomotiva aims to be defensively solid and play with a low block, using a 5-4-1 formation. This lineup is built to deny space behind the back line and rely on quick transitions to catch opponents off guard. The tactical intent focuses on staying compact to frustrate the opposition and making the center of the pitch very difficult to penetrate.
Čavlina stays on his line to guard the goal as the defensive unit organizes. The back line consists of a back five with Marić acting as the central anchor to command the area. Kalaica and Bubanja sit on either side of him to provide cover and win headers. Bartolec and Milićević play as attacking wing backs, tasked with tracking back to form a narrow defensive block when out of possession but ready to push up to provide width when the team wins the ball.
The midfield operates as a flat four to protect the central zones. Kačavenda and Šotićek occupy the central roles to shield the defense and fight for the second ball. Stojković and Kastrati play on the flanks to maintain the width of the block. These four work to compress the midfield and ensure there are no passing lanes through the middle. When NK Lokomotiva loses the ball, this unit drops back to stay close to the defenders.
In the attacking phase, Tuci acts as a lone striker. He must hold up the ball and work to pin the last defender to create space for others. The team builds attacks by using the wing backs to provide width, allowing Stojković and Kastrati to move into central areas. The goal is to find Tuci in transition or use the wide players to whip it in from the flanks for him to attack.
One major advantage for NK Lokomotiva is the compactness when defending, which makes it hard for teams to play through the lines. The formation also allows for speed of transition, as the wing backs and wide midfielders can quickly spread wide once the ball is recovered. By keeping the distance between the lines small, they force the opposition to play around the perimeter rather than through the heart of the pitch.
This 5-4-1 formation is designed to frustrate teams that dominate possession by clogging the central areas. It is best suited for matches against superior technical sides where sitting deep and defending in a narrow block is necessary.
