Restes plays as the goalkeeper to organize the defensive line. The team uses a flat back four with Sergio Gomez at left back and Sica* at right back. Estève operates as the left centre back and uses his ability to play out from the back to build play. Monterisi plays as the right centre back to defend the central area and cover the space behind the advancing full backs. The defensive unit must hold a high line to keep the team compact and prevent the opposition from playing through the lines.

A two man midfield provides the engine for the team. Kamara sits deeper to shield the defence and pick up runners in the middle. Koopmeiners uses his passing range to break the line and find the forwards. He often carries the ball forward to link the defensive and attacking lines. The two must stay close together to prevent the opposition from finding space between them and to ensure they can recycle possession effectively.

The attack features four players who aim to stretch the defence. Cunha plays as an inverted winger on the left and uses his dribbling to move towards the goal. Orsolini operates on the right to cross the ball and provide width. Facundo Sosa* and Francesco Pio Esposito work as a central strike partnership. They press from the front to trigger a press and make runs in behind. The forwards look to combine in tight spaces to create chances and find the feet of the striker.

This formation offers several tactical advantages. The team can press high in coordinated waves to win the ball back quickly. Having four attackers allows Nantes to isolate wide players in one on one situations. They can also create wide overloads when the full backs push up to support the wingers.
